At Eagle Rehabilitation at Sunnyside we believe your search for skilled nursing services should focus on a facility that not only offers good care but also promotes life enrichment.

To our guests and family members, we provide the comfort of knowing that your loved ones are well cared for in a secure and pleasant environment, where they can live happily, and where they can achieve their highest level of independence.

The Eden Alternative is an international not-for-profit organization dedicated to transforming care environments into habitats for human being that promote quality of life for all involved. It is a powerful tool for inspiring well-being for Elders and those who collaborate with thema as Care Partners. The Eden Alternative's principle-based philosophy empowers Care Partners to transfrom institutional approaches to care into the creation of a community where life is worth living. Led by our internationally-recognized founder, Dr. William Thomas, we apply our 15 years of experience to guiding organizations through the journey of culture change.

Our Vision:  To eliminate loneliness, helplessness, and boredom.

Our Mission:  Improving the lives of the Elder and their Care Partners by transforming the communities where they live and work.

Eagle Rehabilitation at Sunnyside provides three types of therapies:

Physical, Occupational and Speech on an in-patient and out patient basis. These services are designed for all ages and appropriate injuries. A young person from an auto injury or a senior recovering from a hip replacement, knee replacement or stroke.

Physical Therapy focuses on strengthening the lower extremities and restoring the patient’s maximum levels of function. Since an injury may require new means, or levels of mobility, we provide care giver training to facilitate the greatest means of support for returning to the home environment.

Occupational Therapy is to strengthen the upper body, and to assist elders in functioning at their maximum potential for as long as possible. Strength and range of motion have far flung ramifications. Even a small improvement can have an overwhelming positive impact, again making it possible for the person to do their daily routines.

Speech Therapists evaluate a person’s thought processes, speech and swallowing ability after a trauma. By working quickly and intensely, much of the loss can be regained.

In some cases of discharge to the home, Home Visits for the elder are carried out by our therapists to evaluate any need for equipment i.e. safety bars or rails, stairways, width of doors, household hazards and bathing facilities. Once the evaluation is complete and the equipment is installed, the therapists may take the elder home and help them practice moving about. In this way, the return home is smooth and as accident free as possible.

Transitional Care Unit

We frequently admit patients from Yakima Memorial Hospital and Regional Hospital in Yakima, Prosser Hospital in Prosser, Sunnyside Community Hospital in Sunnyside and in the Tri- Cities area we receive patients from Kenniwick General, Kadlec Hospital, and Lourdes Medical Center. In Seattle, Virginia Mason, and the University of Washington refer patients to us. In cooperation with Sunnyside Community Hospital, Hillcrest Manor and Rehabilitation Center is the only TCU in the Lower Valley.

The Traditional Care Unit Team specializes in providing intense therapy under the direction of Dr. John Allen, Rehabilitation Director. The concentrated hours of therapy provide for a quicker recovery from injuries and illnesses. Dr. John Allen, Therapy Physician, visits all therapy patients at least once a week and attends therapy meetings with patients and coordinates Physical, Occupational and Speech therapy services. He does not replace your personal physician but joins him/her in the care of your loved one.
