Fathers Day Celebration

In honor of all the men in our facility with held a car show, the only requirement was to wear an ugly tie. They did just that. We have some people from the community bring up some old cars: 1969 Red Mustang w/white strip, 1946 Coral Chrysler , 1963 Dodge 2 wheel drive truck. Residents stood along side of their favorites and had a photo taken. We also had some blues singers playing music through-out the day for entertainment. The BBQ included hot dogs, potato salad, beans, chips and strawberry sundaes for dessert.

The Residents 4th Annual 4th of July BBQ

A gayla event put on by the Greater Clark County Rotary Club at the Nursing Home Thursday the 2nd. Residents enjoyed the meeting, sing-a-long, food and fireworks. For the past four years, the Rotary has adopted us, they really make the residents feel special. Most of the residents wake up early in the morning with lots of excitement and enthusiasm, knowing that the rotary will be visiting . They really go all out for us. The fireworks were awesome as our residents watched from the outside patio.

New at the Nursing Home is The Country Store

The residents now receive tickets for the activities attended during the week. They also can receive tickets for service jobs. We are trying to encourage them to get to activities on their own, and attend more out of room activities. This allows the Activity department to focus more on the dependant residents, whom are unable to get to activities. We also are able to start activities on time, and offer more throughout the day.
The residents are very enthusiastic about our program and look forward to cashing in on the tickets. The first week we received 68 tickets, the second week 165 tickets, WOW! this really went over big.
Every Thursday at 2pm a line begins at the door to buy from the store. Items we carry are: Personals, dice, cards, stuffed animals, snacks, beverages, games, figurines, misc articles and batteries. A resident can also make requests for items and we make efforts to get that item for them the following week. We also have been asked about lay away, which now is available. This really has empowered them. Most of the merchandise is donated or bought buy staff members from our activity wish list for the month.

DJ 3rd Annual BBQ

Residents were treated at Diane Jans house aka(DJ) for a BBQ and a surprise visit by Neamiha, favorite at the nursing home. He sang lots of oldies and some Elvis too. Residents were served choices like bbq chicken on a stick, BBQ pork loin, and prime rib, potato salad, fruit salad. For dessert it was the popular ice box lemon cake and brownies. The weather was great!
