Overlooking the Columbia River in Camas Washington is Highland Terrace Nursing Center, a skilled nursing facility offering excellent care while promoting life enrichment. The residents and staff take pride in its homelike environment and staff invovement in the community of Wahkiakum County. To our residents and family members, we provide the comfort of knowing that the resident is well cared for in a secure and pleasant environment, where they can live happily, and where they can achieve their highest level of independence. Residents and family members are encouraged to participate in care planning. On an on-going basis, they are kept well-informed about what's going on; in turn, we like to hear their ideas and comments. Family and friends are welcome to visit anytimeThrough planned activities and the interactions of daily life, there are many opportunities to make new friends and develop new interests. Residents become members of a community which supports them as they support each other. Assisting our staff are consultants in a variety of fields. Available on a daily basis to monthly basis are dietitian services, podiatry, mental health professionals, occupational, speech and speech language professionals, ministers from several denominations, a beautician, and more. Our food service manager takes pride in planning fresh, well-balanced meals according to individual nutritional needs and personal tastes. Residents are encouraged to meet with the dietitian either individually or as part of the food committee to offer menu suggestions. Family members are welcome to eat with residents anytime. |

Lee Ferris - Administrator A Native of Pacific Northwest, grew up hiking, fishing and campng in the Olympic Mountain Range. Graduated from Portland State University and entered the Heathcare field in 1992, as an Administrator. For the past 17 years, my philosophy of leadership is interactive with strong emphais on Culture Change and making every day count in the lives of our residents. My background in college athletics has showed me the importance of team building and being disciplined. I live in the scenic Columbia River Gorge area with my wife Nancy and our two Labrador retrievers. We have five children and four grandchildren. |

Diane Jans - Director of Nursing Services Diane Jans – “Dj” has been a Registered Nurse since 1971 and has served as Director of Nursing Services at Highland Terrace Nursing Center since 1995. Her background includes acute care, surgical care, home health and office nursing. First trained in Eden Alternative in 1999, Diane has been a strong advocate for culture change at Highland. Together, the staff have made many changes to enhance the lives of the ‘Elders” who reside at Highland Terrace and continue to search out new ideas and strategies to improve the daily lives of those who entrust their care to us. |
